Frequently Asked Questions
Question

How do I view or print game statistics from my Mac?

Answer

K-ForCE is not yet available for the Mac. We do, however, support several report formats that are compatible with Mac: PDF, Text, CSV and HTML.

Question

How do I delete a game on the iPhone/iPod touch?

Answer

From the Games view, swipe from left to right, then press 'delete'. Make sure you are not deleting the currently loaded game, however, because the loaded game is saved every time a new game is loaded, or when the app closes. So the game will seem to reappear.

Question

My iPhone/iPod touch isn't able to send the game using the email feature?

Answer

All known issues related to email have been resolved.  If you are still having issues, please contact support.

Question

How do I edit an atbat in the 1st inning, when the game is in a later inning (or already over)?

Answer

Base advance comments and out comments can be changed very easily. Just tap/touch/click the actual comment, an edit window/view will appear allowing you to edit the text.

If you need to advance a runner, navigate to the atbat for the player and drag-drop the base runner (Pocket PC/PC Edition), or touch the desired base to advance the runner. You may need to change the base advance comment or details.

Question

How do I record a hit location on the iPhone/iPod touch?

Answer

Select the 'hit location' button (just above the batter button), touch/drag the hit location on the field.  Notice the line is not drawn directly beneath your touch - this is to allow more precise placement.  Then select the hit type.  The hit location is completely optional and can be added later.

Question

Why doesn't the iPhone/iPod touch version have the ability to sync with my PC?

Answer

iTunes has sync capabilities for Apple's email, photos and music, but Apple does not provide a mechanism for other software to synchronize data using the same system. This means each program needs to invent their own synchronization system. We are working hard to provide a solution to this problem.

Question

How do I advance base runners on the iPhone/iPod touch?

Answer

From the current batter's atbat view, base runners/occupied bases are represented as blue bases. To advance a runner from 2nd base to 3rd base, just touch the unoccupied 3rd base. If the current batter has not yet completed his atbat, a prompt will appear allow you to indicate how the batter advanced (WP, PB, SB, etc). When advancing multiple base runners, always advance the lead runner first.

Question

How do I cancel out of a scoring menu?

Answer

Tap the area below the menu to dismiss the menu without making a selection.

Question

How do I enter a DH for the pitcher?

Answer

Enter the batting lineup as you normally would. Then switch your view to the other team's scoresheet. From there select View | Inning Totals. Make sure the horizontal scroll bar is all the way to the left. This is where you enter the pitchers. If a player in the batting order is already the pitcher, (s)he will show up here. If no pitcher is entered in the lineup, here is where you'd enter the non-hitting pitcher. This is also where you make pitching substitutions (whether you are using a DH or not).

Alternate method: you can use the method below to DH for the pitcher as well as any player in the field but not batting.

Question

I run Setup for Rakonza K-ForCE (Pocket PC/Windows Mobile Edition) but it doesn’t install to my device. What do I do?

Answer

Setup interacts with Microsoft ActiveSync to install K-ForCE. There are known issues with older versions of Microsoft ActiveSync and K-ForCE’s setup program. The solution is to upgrade to the latest version of ActiveSync.

Question

Is there a guide to help me if I’ve never scored a game before?

Answer

There is a tutorial containing over 1700 screen images. It is focused on how to score using Rakonza F-ForCE; but is a good tutorial for paper scoring as well.

Question

I’ve made a mistake, how do I undo it?

Answer

Most scoring in Rakonza K-ForCE can be undone with a single screen tap. If you score a ball when it should have been a strike, tap the area where you scored the last ball and it will be undone. K-ForCE PC Edition contains an undo feature which allows for multiple levels of undo. Just click the undo menu repeatedly to undo multiple scoring mistakes.

Question

I’ve credited 2 RBIs instead of one. How do I undo that?

Answer

It is only possible to be credited with 4 RBIs in a single at bat (grand slam home run). So tap RBI 4 more times. The RBI counter will count up to 4 then start over at 0.

Question

Why is it that I can start scoring in the third inning even though I haven’t scored the first or second inning?

Answer

We wanted the software to be flexible. We have tried to make is very much like scoring on paper. It’s perfectly OK with the paper scoresheet if you arrive late to the game and start scoring it in the third inning. Of course K-ForCE won’t be able to display the scoreboard properly. And the ‘Batter Up’ feature may get a bit confused at first. But this shouldn’t stop you from scoring the rest of the game.

Question

How do I handle a team that has batted around in an inning?

Answer

Tap 'Batter Up' and the inning headers will be updated to indicated two columns for the same inning. Or from the main window, click on the inning column at the top and change the value. For example, if the team bats around in the 4th inning, go to the main window, click on the number 5 at the top, change it to a 4. On PC Edition, right click on the 5 at the top and a menu will popup allowing you to insert a column. The other inning columns will be updated automatically.

Question

What happens if I have more substitution than there is room for?

Answer

The scoresheet shows three places for player information (per at bat row). Once the third player is entered on the scoresheet, two small triangles appear. Tap the bottom triangle and the player information scrolls up one space, leaving an empty player row. Enter the fourth player in this new place. You can continue to scroll up and down. There are enough rows to accomodate up to eight players per at bat row.

Question

What is "Batter Count" in the "Substitution Details" dialog box?

Answer

It is the number of opposing players who have finished batting in the inning. If the relief pitcher enters the game at the beginning of the defensive part of the inning (in other words, the other team hasn't started batting in the inning yet), this value is zero. If the relief pitcher enters the game after the first batter has already batted, the value is one.

Question

I’m a little league coach and we move players around each inning and substitute a lot. How does K-ForCE deal with that?

Answer

K-ForCE does not have a special lineup option for this kind of substitution in little league. But the normal substitution mechanism works OK. There is room for the starting player and eight substitutions. So if you wanted, you could use each player substitution slot for a different inning. And since there are only six innings in little league and a time limit, I doubt you’ll need more than sixteen.

Question

How do I indicate that an inning is over because of a run rule?

Answer

Some leagues have rules which cause an inning to be over before three outs are scored. K-ForCE has support for 'last batter'. This indicates to K-ForCE that even though there were not three outs scored for the inning, the inning is over.
